Circulation of knowledge, Campus of the future
The new IT University campus is located on an 8.3-hectare site in the southwest of Almaty, 20 km from the airport and 7 km from the city center. Adjacent to Al-Farabi Avenue, and near the Presidential Park, Miras School, and Apple Town Apartments, the site offers a harmonious environment where academia meets nature, with the majestic Tien Shan Mountains as a backdrop.
Based on the concept of a Möbius strip symbolizing the ""infinity loop,"" the design integrates classrooms, library, gymnasium, and cafeteria into a continuous, circular layout with a multi-core structure. The façade, reflecting the diagonal silhouette of the Tien Shan and adorned with mystic blue and white tones, emphasizes the identity of IT and research. The mixed-use complex maximizes spatial efficiency and creative interaction.
The campus covers a total area of 45,898㎡ (54,933㎡ including the IT office). It features 133 classrooms accommodating 3,800 students, a library for 750 users, a 640-seat gymnasium, a 550-seat auditorium, and a cafeteria for 900 people. Central corridor security systems, inner courtyards, and rooftop gardens harmonize study and relaxation. A 6-story IT office building (8,931㎡) provides workspace for approximately 1,000 people.
The rooftop garden serves both as insulation and a recreational area, while solar panels installed on the auditorium roof generate eco-friendly energy. The east courtyard has been redesigned with a glass ceiling, making it usable year-round. Utilizing local expertise, Haevil and Gakyeong offer a one-stop service from design to post-construction maintenance, realizing a truly sustainable campus for the future.
