The ""Uly Dala Eli"" Memorial Complex in Astana is a symbolic public space that commemorates Kazakhstan’s historical and cultural identity. It is located on a 36-hectare island surrounded by the Yesil River and the Saryarka Bridge. Thanks to the natural borders formed by the river and bridge, the site enjoys high visibility from all directions. At the heart of the complex is a monumental structure and a cultural-information rest area made up of 23 historically themed ""islands."" The monument is a massive cubical structure rising from the ground, with each form symbolizing a key historical figure in Kazakhstan, representing the nation’s strong cultural foundations. At the center stands a ""tree""—either a real tree or an artistic installation—symbolizing the birth and revival of a new Kazakhstan. Water flows from the historical islands into the monument, visually expressing the flow of life that connects the past, present, and future. A statue of Kazakhstan’s First President and a museum commemorating his achievements are also included, highlighting his foundational role in building the independent nation.

The complex includes exhibition halls, museums, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, and a cultural center. The 23 historical islands vividly represent major themes in Kazakhstan’s history—such as the Silk Road, the ancient culture of Otyrar, the formation of the Kazakh Khanate, and the achievements of the first 25 years of independence—through monuments and sculptures. Inside the main monument, there is a multipurpose event space and a museum highlighting the accomplishments of the First President. This makes it a suitable venue for national ceremonies and international gatherings. The ""Uly Dala Eli"" Memorial Complex is a symbolic space that honors Kazakhstan’s past while presenting a vision for the future, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit Astana.
